Rehabilitation
42,332 sq. ft.
Under the contract, DDD had to retrofit approximately 42,332 sf of existing workshop interiors and facades, replace tools and systems (Compressed Air, Oil & Lubricants), incorporate a 6,200 sf workshop addition to house additional workshop area and add a new 3,590 sf car wash facility. As part of the Scope, DDD was required to also design and build a new substation and electrical service infrastructure to provide sufficient capacity for the new facilities and any future expansion. The workshop areas (new and existing), were built using a structural steel, covered with a combination of cement plastered concrete block and metal siding. The shop floor was finished with high-grade traffic tiles installed over a fiber-reinforced structural concrete topping. Fire controls included the use of overhead sprinklers in addition to fire and smoke detectors installed throughout the entire facility. As on the other jobs, multiple energy conservation methods were used including natural ventilation and lighting controls to maximize the use of daylight.
