22 Jun DDD Celebrates New Terminal A Pedestrian Bridge at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport
After months of planning, coordination, and construction, the new pedestrian bridge connecting the multilevel parking structure to Terminal A at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport has officially opened, marking an important milestone for one of the Caribbean’s busiest transportation hubs.
The inauguration ceremony brought together representatives from Aerostar, Del Valle Group, DDD Group, public officials, and project partners to celebrate the completion of this nearly $5 million infrastructure investment. The new pedestrian bridge strengthens connectivity within Puerto Rico’s main airport while providing a safer, faster, and more convenient experience for the millions of passengers who travel through Terminal A each year.
Delivered through a design-build approach, the 11,720-square-foot project creates a direct pedestrian connection between the visitor parking structure and Terminal A. The completed improvements include a new elevator tower with access to all six parking levels, an elevated bridge leading directly to the Terminal A departures level, and ADA-compliant ramps and stairs that connect visitors to the arrivals area through landscaped gathering spaces.
Designed to mirror the existing pedestrian bridge serving the airport’s central terminal, the new structure improves circulation between the parking facility and one of the airport’s busiest terminals. Home to JetBlue and other domestic and international carriers, Terminal A welcomes millions of passengers annually. This new connection supports Aerostar’s ongoing modernization efforts while enhancing the overall passenger experience and strengthening the infrastructure that supports Puerto Rico’s tourism industry.
DDD Group partnered closely with Aerostar and Del Valle Group throughout the design-build process, helping transform a complex infrastructure need into a solution that improves accessibility, circulation, and the overall passenger experience. The completed bridge demonstrates how thoughtful planning, architecture, engineering, and construction expertise can come together to deliver infrastructure that serves both operational needs and the long-term growth of Puerto Rico’s primary gateway for residents and visitors alike.
Representing DDD Group at the inauguration were Alexandra Wirshing, Director of Design, and Gabriel Fuentes, who joined Jorge Hernández, CEO of Aerostar; Luis Faure, Chief Infrastructure Officer; Joel Rosa, Project Manager; Ing. Humberto Reynolds, President of Del Valle Group; Ing. Carmelo Calderón, Vice President; Ing. Pedro López, Project Engineer; along with government officials and members of the broader project team.
DDD Group is proud to have contributed to a project that enhances accessibility, improves the passenger experience, and reinforces the value of collaboration in delivering infrastructure that supports Puerto Rico’s continued growth.
We congratulate Aerostar, Del Valle Group, and all project partners whose collaboration made this important milestone possible.
