11 Aug Workforce Development Leadership Recognized in Obra
The recently launched Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) — a groundbreaking workforce initiative supported by DDD Group — continues to generate significant interest in Puerto Rico’s construction industry. This month, Obra magazine, one of the island’s leading construction publications, featured the program and its potential to shape the future of the sector.
Led by the Fundación de Desarrollo Laboral de AGC-PR, which DDD Group President Umberto Donato proudly chairs, RAP has already enrolled 44 apprentices from 10 construction companies in its first cohort. These apprentices are gaining hands-on experience, technical training, and mentorship in essential trades like carpentry, masonry, and general construction areas in high demand locally and globally.
For DDD Group, supporting initiatives like RAP is more than an investment in our team; it’s a commitment to the long-term strength of the construction industry as a whole. Programs like these close the skills gap, elevate industry standards, and create pathways for economic growth that benefit all of Puerto Rico.
“This is a concrete step to address the urgent need for qualified labor in Puerto Rico,” shared Donato during the announcement.
By backing RAP, DDD Group is not only contributing to a stronger, more skilled local workforce but also setting an example for how strategic industry collaboration can be replicated in other regions and countries facing similar labor shortages.
As the construction sector evolves, initiatives like this ensure that the next generation of builders is prepared, capable, and empowered to take on the challenges ahead.
