  • Designed to LEED Gold Standards – Sustainability design measures included: building orientation, permeable surfaces, Energy efficient air conditioning system.

  • Resilient building design in order to be fully operational in an emergency.

The Mayaguez Marine Unit, located in Boquerón, PR, consists of a new building of approximately 13,800 sf to be occupied by the US Customs and Border Protection Air & Marine Unit (USCBP). This federal facility incorporates the need to accommodate a boat storage as well as administrative spaces for agents. As required by the Federal Government’s Minimum-Security Guidelines, this facility needs to accommodate special secured spaces and secure perimeter requirements for proper function.

Resilience and sustainability are part of the goals to achieve. LED light fixtures, room occupancy sensor, a split unit A/C System, water efficient plumbing fixtures, natural daylight, permeable surfaces, provisions to install solar panels, a cool roof system, potable water cistern and water desalination system are part of the sustainable and resilient measures implemented.
