28 Sep AGC-PR Convention: A Celebration of Innovation and Progress
The 2024 Association of General Contractors, Puerto Rico Chapter’s (AGC-PR) Annual Convention and Expo was another memorable event. DDD Group President Umberto Donato, a former president of AGC-PR and current board secretary, was proud of all the work the association has accomplished with its aim to build a modern and prosperous Puerto Rico while supporting our members’ businesses through innovation. The convention is a highlight of that journey.
“I am proud to be a member and to participate in the general contractors’ association convention, contributing to our collective effort to build a better future, not only for each member, but for every individual, family, business, and our island,” expressed Donato. The convention at the El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, was vibrant and diverse. It featured various activities, including educational seminars, networking opportunities, and social events. Attendees enjoyed enriching discussions, inspiring presentations, and exciting awards ceremonies that recognized the achievements of industry leaders.
The five-day event gave the AGC-PR several opportunities to recognize the hard work and dedicated years of service of many of its industry professionals. This recognition is a testament to the value we place on their contributions. As a long-time board member, Donato felt honored to present awards to several loyal association members, including Design-Build LLC, Bird Group, LLC, Bonneville Construction, and more. The gala event was the stage to present the Alejandro S. Herrero Award to Roberto Sabater, who received this prestigious award for his distinguished career and contributions to the construction industry. One prize especially dear to our team was presenting the Jacinto Galib award to our own Raúl Torres Torres, an auxiliary carpenter and valued member of our DDD Group family.
One of the convention’s highlights was the Construction Fair, which showcased the latest products and services from various industry professionals. The event featured a vibrant atmosphere, with live music, delicious food, and engaging exhibits.
As part of the Puerto Rico Development Program at the convention, several aspiring political candidates attended an open forum to share their plans for the island’s future and how the proposed reforms can impact our industry.
