Rehabilitation
65,000 sq ft.
The work required the comprehensive modernization of the existing 65,000 sf facility and the addition of approximately 3,000 sf of new classrooms. The buildings were built using a reinforced concrete system of columns and beams, coupled with a steel deck and joist system for the floors. The requirements for the modernization program, required full structural, electrical and plumbing retrofits in order to achieve full compliance with the latest applicable codes (Uniform Building Code, ADA and Fire Code). Structural retrofits were required to fix short column effect problems and weak lateral load capacity in the earthquake zone. The school was a turnkey project delivered fully furnished, with computers and data systems installed and connected to a whole school wireless infrastructure. Although not LEED Certified, multiple energy conservation methods were used, including natural ventilation, lighting controls, water conservation and material recycling.
